Uber and taxis in London
Every licensed black cab must take a card and a contactless payment through an approved reader fixed in the passenger compartment, and must give you a printed receipt if you ask for one. No driver is exempt and no card surcharge is allowed. A minicab is a different thing: it cannot lawfully take a street hail, so you have to book it through an app or an operator. At Luton the airport itself charges a Pick Up Zone fee starting at £7, and a driver is likely to fold it into what you pay. Tickets, passes and contactless are on the London page.
