Uber and taxis in Paris
Taxis between Paris and either Charles de Gaulle or Orly run on a fixed forfait (a flat all-in pass) set by decree, split by whether your destination is on the Right Bank or the Left Bank. The price does not move with the traffic and it holds during strikes. Three things put the meter back on, and all three come from the passenger: a detour or change of destination you ask for, a multi-stop journey agreed before setting off, or a shared ride. A supplement of €4 for an immediate booking or €7 for one made ahead is legal on top of the forfait. A driver asking for more than the forfait itself is not.
