Uber and taxis in Barcelona
The taxi tariff is set by the metropolitan authority: €2.80 to start, €1.35 a kilometre by day, €1.66 at night and at weekends, plus a €4.60 supplement whenever the airport is one end of the trip. Every licensed taxi has to carry a card reader, and the driver has to hold €20 in change. The only official taxi is black and yellow. Ride-hailing behaves differently: Catalan law puts a minimum of 15 minutes between booking and pickup, so a car will not come straight away however the app reads.
