Uber and taxis in Lisbon
No rule obliges a Lisbon taxi to take cards. The national taxi law treats card payment as a scoring bonus when licences are awarded rather than a duty, so it is a choice made vehicle by vehicle: carry cash. The new national tariff, from 28 August 2026, is the first to charge distance and time together for the whole ride rather than one or the other, and its booking supplement is the charge a rank or a street hail avoids. Tickets, passes and contactless are on the Lisbon page.
From the airport the fare into the centre runs between 10 and 15 euros, luggage included, and the rank is the only place to take one: the airport's own advice is never to go with a driver who approaches you inside the terminal.
